چکیده
Remazolbrilliant Blue covalently linked to amylose (Amylose Azure) has been used for the determination of ex-amylase (Rinderknecht, Wilding, and Haverback, 1967). It forms an insoluble suspension in aqueous media, but liberates a soluble highly coloured blue dye as a result of amylase activity. This communication describes the use of this compound for the demonstration of amylase isoenzymes separated on cellulose acetate membranes.

Alpha-amylase synthesis in wheat kernels as influenced by the seed coat.
The effect of seed coat removal on the synthesis of alpha-amylase isoenzymes in wheat was investigated. The immature wheat endosperm-aleurone (seed coat and embryo detached) produced considerably less alpha-amylase activity than immature whole or de-embryonated wheat kernels, when incubated under identical conditions of 18.5 C and 99% humidity, in the presence or absence of gibberellic acid (GA...
متن کاملFrequency of pancreatitis in fulminant hepatic failure using isoenzyme markers.
Evidence of acute pancreatitis was sought in 35 patients with fulminant hepatic failure. Total amylase was raised in 22 patients and isoenzyme separation showed a distinct P3 isoenzyme (indicative of pancreatitis) in 14. In four patients with marked hyperamylasaemia (greater than 1000 U/l) the predominant isoenzyme was the salivary fraction. Pancreatic lipase was abnormally raised (greater than...
متن کامل[Lipase and total amylase and its isoenzymes as markers of pancreatic injury in patients treated with antiepileptic drugs].
OBJECTIVE The study of the serum lipase and total amylase and its isoenzymes as biochemical markers of pancreatic injury in patients treated with valproic acid and other enzyme-inducing antiepileptic drugs. METHOD The serum activities of lipase and total amylase and its isoenzymes were determined in 41 patients treated in monotherapy with valproic acid, 50 patients in mono/polytherapy with ph...
متن کاملReference intervals for amylase isoenzymes in serum and plasma of infants and children.
Measurement of pancreatic (P) and salivary-like (S) amylase isoenzyme activity in serum of adults is useful as an indirect indicator of pancreatic and salivary gland exocrine dysfunction. To extend the use of this assay to the pediatric population, we measured amylase isoenzymes in 546 serum and plasma samples and defined normal reference intervals for the P and S isoenzymes as a function of ag...
متن کاملInteraction of immobilized anti-salivary amylase antibody with human macroamylases: implications for use in a pancreatic amylase assay to distinguish macroamylasemia from acute pancreatitis.
We examined the ability of an immobilized antibody to salivary amylase (Clin Chem 1985;33:1283-8) to react with amylase in macroamylasemic sera. The antibody removed 50% (SD 23%) of the total amylase activity from 39 macroamylase sera, a percentage indistinguishable (P greater than 0.75) from the percentage removed from concurrently analyzed sera from healthy volunteers (49%, SD 11%). Electroph...
